Traveling

NYC
I've mentioned previously that I ventured to NYC a few weeks ago. I thought I'd expound on that just a bit.
I love NY. It may be a slogan for the state, but it's true in my case. There is an energy in the Big Apple that people can not comprehend if they are from small cities and towns. Some, such as my girlfriend Deb, may not appreciate that energy, but I do.
What is it about the big city that attracts me? I'm similarly affected by Philadelphia and Washington DC. I think it's partially the sheer size and the magnitude of diversity. There are so many things to see and do in a big city. Everything is not cookie-cuttered like it is here in the Midwest.
In my region of Ohio, there is so much of the same old thing. All fast food restaurants and strip malls and you have to drive everywhere for nearly everything. You're lucky if there are any nice restaurants where you can get freshly made, original menu, foods. Where I live we're lucky to have Yellow Springs only a few miles down the road. If you want something different, it's really a great place to go. And in Springfield, The Hickory Inn is probably the best bet for something different, but good.
Back to NYC...
I went to the Empire State Bldg. with my daughter, her boyfriend Dan, and my friend Evelyn. It was a windy, overcast day, but the views were still magnificent. I loved it. My only regret is that I didn't know NYC better so I could look for specific points of interest. But, I go some great photographs with the digital. Enough that I'm satisfied.
Yes, I love traveling. It's a well known fact for those I work with. Since NYC, I've also been back to Philadelphia for my daughter's graduation. Think I'll post a picture and my thoughts about that city on the next post. By the time I get through that, it will be time to scoot to Canada for our yearly girls' gathering at Niagara on the Lake.
See, I told you I love traveling! Maybe I should post a blog on frequent flier miles...
